TechOhio Content Marketing Initiative – Our Strategic Partnership with Ohio Development Services Agency

OBJECTIVE

The Ohio Development Services Agency (ODSA) launched a campaign to raise the visibility of the State of Ohio as a destination for entrepreneurs with a focus on technology startup companies. The state agency partnered with MediaSource as their content marketing provider, which involved producing written and video content and handling social media strategy.

The overarching goal for this content marketing project included creating a high volume of content that prompted engagement and growth of the ODSA-run TechOhio website and its social media properties.

PLANNING

To achieve the goal of driving traffic to the TechOhio website and increasing engagement on social channels,  MediaSource strategically incorporated a large amount of video content into the mix that was designed to appeal to the target audience of entrepreneurs and existing technology startups in the state. The most effective way to meet the objectives would be to produce videos telling the stories of the most compelling tech startups. The video stories would highlight their paths to entrepreneurship, the technologies they created, the future they envisioned and the resources they accessed that fostered their success. Additionally, the most memorable companies were chosen to have their CEOs featured in a special type of video called a ‘Founder Story.’

EXECUTION

The team handles video story set up in a journalism-style manner with research and story planning being executed before any content gathering is complete. This set up includes includes the creation of Q&As and video shot sheets. After the video shoots take place on location, the story then goes through a rigorous scripting and editing process with our video content producers and editors.

RESULTS

Since the ODSA and MediaSource partnership began, more than 130 high-quality, engaging videos have been produced and delivered, effectively driving increased traffic to the TechOhio website. From 2014-2016, the total visits to the TechOhio site increased by 249%. The site continues to the grow due to MediaSource’s strategic content marketing tactics and results-driven approaches..
